That is, a sufficiently powerful volume of users so that the development of all the work behind the publication of content bears fruit.
Depending on the project, this becomes more or less of a problem.
For example, if you are a media outlet, content will never be a limitation, since it is your reason for being.
But if you have a project focused on fans data selling products (let's say, for example, a shoe store), things get more complicated here.
We can have a critical mass of 12 million followers, but if our Edge Rank is bad, (almost) all of them will be blind to our content posting, which will make all our efforts completely useless.
What is Edge Rank?
Edge Rank is the algorithm that Facebook uses to manage the publication of content in users' News Feed.
Just as Google ranks texts based on their authority for each keyword, Facebook ranks content within each user's News Feed based on the relevance it considers it may have for that person.
This is a topic that could be written in several articles, so I am linking you to a series that I have written myself, in case you want to continue investigating the subject:
Undisclosed factors of Edge Rank I ⇒ Edge Rank II ⇒ Edge Rank III
"These 3 posts are from 2014, but I consider the content to be still relevant. If you read them, let's say you'll be more or less up to date with "everything I can tell you about Edge Rank"
In today's post, we'll focus on the last two points: Content and Edge Rank.
How to get the critical mass necessary to make them take off… we'll leave that for another post.
Content is the key to improving Edge Rank
In super-broad-sense terms, the subject is simple.
Quality content will allow you to create a virtuous circle with Edge Rank that will lead to increased visibility of your posts.
If you share content that people like a lot, you will get interactions (clicks, views, likes, shares, etc.).
If you get interactions, your Edge Rank will grow.
As your Edge Rank improves, the visibility of your content within Facebook will expand.
This, in turn, will multiply your chances of increasing your global critical mass, the specific mass that receives impressions from your content and, therefore, the volume of users likely to generate interactions and continue improving your Edge Rank…
